The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The Good
There were many ‘Goods’ this month. Thank the Lord!

For starters, we put the old house on the market, got an offer from the first person that saw it (the day before it was officially open for viewings), and then sold it by the end of the month. It took a lot to get the house ready and it was so frustrating because we just wanted to be done with it. But thankfully we had a lot of great help and it was such a relief for both of us once it was finally on the market. We expected it to be 2-3 months before we would sell the house so we were very surprised but excited that everything happened so quickly. One less mortgage to worry about! But, ohhhh am I going to miss that house. We have many good memories there but I know we will make many more in our new home.

Another ‘Good’ was finally getting Wyatt baptized. He was baptized at St. Michael's Catholic Church by Fr. Leon and the Godparents were my sister Meche and cousin Diego. The family came in for the special event over Valentine’s weekend so we had a FULL house! We kept it very small…just family and a couple of close friends. Wyatt was so tired but he was a trooper. He lasted until the end of the actual baptism at the church but fell asleep right after. And the Godparents did a great job also (hooray Meche and Diego!). Afterwards, we all went to the house and had Pappasito’s for lunch (thanks Bill!). We had a really nice time celebrating Wyatt’s baptism with food, margaritas, beer, wine, a nice fire, and good stories. It was certainly a long day but full of enjoyable quality time with everyone.

During the family's visit over the weekend, Brent continued to work on the fence and the guys helped a great deal…Noel even painted it for us (thanks Noel!). It looks really good! My nephews really enjoyed playing with their cousin and Wyatt was just amused by them. They all get along very well (thankfully!). And of course, Abuela and Titi Meche had to fight over him. They couldn’t get enough of little Wyatt!

We took advantage that my mom was in town and Brent and I went on a date night. Just dinner but it was nice getting out just the 2 of us and not having to pay for a babysitter. :) We need more of those. Any volunteers to babysit our little angel? Lol.

Milestones are good so we'll include them in the 'Good' category. :) Wyatt continues to babble a lot and practice his "a's". I keep trying to make him practice his "m's" for 'mami' or 'mama'...and Brent is trying to get him to say 'd' for 'dada'...haha. It's cute to listen to him 'talk' in the morning while still in his crib (trying to wake us up I imagine), on the way to or on the way back from daycare, or just any other time. But this month, Wyatt started to practice his pincer grasp and he is doing very well so far! And some of the little puffs even make it to his mouth. :) He also started practicing holding a sippy cup. He brings it up to his mouth but doesn’t yet know that he has to lift it up to sip from it. He is now playing with some different types of toys – he loves the piano and the entertainer that goes around to different stations. He now knows to move himself around (at the beginning he just stayed at one station and I had to move him around myself). We also took Wyatt on his first jogging stroller ride (although we didn’t actually jog). I think he liked it but it’s kind of hard to tell because he fell asleep. But mommy and daddy liked it! Smooth ride!!! He’s had his two bottom teeth for 2 months now, but check them out!

And look at our little angel sleeping. I love seeing him in this position. :)

The Bad
Wyatt has had a terrible cough since he started daycare (go figure) and sometimes it seems like it will never go away. I’ve taken him to see the pediatrician a couple of times already and we have tried a few things but my poor little guy is still coughing and sounds so congested. He hates taking the Mucinex and the inhaler through the aero chamber thing is even worse. And of course, he hates it when I try to clean his nose...either with a Kleenex or an aspirator. He screams bloody murder!!! I know we will get through it though. And they say this is a good thing because it builds up their immune system?? It’s definitely not good while it’s going on!! :( I’ll try to look at the bright side. Haha.

Another ‘Bad’ (I call it a ‘Bad’ because who wants to spend a beautiful Saturday afternoon doing this?) was the day we finally tackled the garage. At least we started it…it’s definitely not 100%. But now we know what’s in there and we did move some stuff and organized what was left so we can at least walk around in there. We did remember to take a couple of breaks though (mandated by Wyatt…he IS the boss after all!!). :) We’ll go back to it at some point when it warms up. I pray it’s not anytime soon!

The Ugly
Unfortunately, I don’t have pictures of ‘The Ugly’ to share, and you will be thankful.

Last week (on Thursday) Wyatt came home with the stomach bug although nothing ‘happened’ until overnight (of course). At about 12:30 am he wakes up screaming. He had vomited in his crib and of course got it all over him (he was face down). That is definitely not a good time to be changing the sheets of a crib mattress!!! Ugh! I cleaned him up and changed him and tried to rock him back to sleep but he kept bending his knees and crying until he threw up again but all over me. Then it was my turn to clean up and change. Thankfully, he fell asleep in daddy’s arm right after that second time. He threw up after every feeding at daycare the next day and that evening (once more on mommy…fun stuff) and he finally got through it by Saturday morning. Projectile vomiting has a whole new meaning to me. Then, as if that wasn’t bad enough, it hits me on Saturday night. Oh….that was so not enjoyable. And then it hit Brent on Monday evening. Unfortunately, his was worse than mine. One good thing that came out of it though was that Wyatt and I bonded during that time. Awwwww… But we don’t like the stomach bug. :( It definitely upset the little guy’s stomach for a few days afterwards as he was not eating the same. So now you know why there are no pictures of this event to share. Sigh….

Next month – time for a family vacation in the mountains!!!! Yay!!!! :)
