This was Wyatt's first official trip to Puerto Rico. Last time we went, he was in my belly. :) And this trip was a little more overwhelming. Wyatt is not used to the whole 'rebolú' my family in PR has to offer. That's our way of saying 'chaos'. :)
So, yes, it was a really exhausting trip (seems like we were on the road every day). And not to mention, it was soooooo hot! And I wasn't even pregnant... But we had fun and I am thankful we were able to visit some of my family and that they had the opportunity to meet Wyatt.
Here are a few of the 'good ones'. Obviously I think there are many of them. :)
At the airport / On the plane:
This was Brent's first experience traveling by plane with Wyatt.
Playing with my cousin's cat. Think he was trying to take her food away and the cat was being very patient.
Barranquitas (the country!):
Wyatt didn't want to take a nap with all the commotion but he was really tired. My uncle suggested the hammock. Did the trick!
With my abuela and godfather, playing dominos, nice scenic background (love this pic!), with my cousin, Tania.
Singing Happy Birthday (to me and Tania...we both turn 35 this year so maybe b/c we were together they decided to celebrate); enjoying cake (Wyatt was really eyeing my piece!)
Wyatt really enjoyed just being outside. This is after his nap so he was happy. :)
The cousins just hanging out, a fire for the marshmallows, watching the fire while enjoying the treats.
Family pic before leaving Barranquitas.
Rincon (beach/pool!):
When we arrived in Rincon, it started pouring down rain. Shortly after, the power went out. Unfortunately, Brent was in the elevator when this happened. Fortunately, he had the cooler full of beer with him. :) So he would have survived, except he was able to pry the doors open and get out of the elevator (thankfully, the elevator had arrived to our floor before the power went out). We were stuck in our room for quite a while...but at least the World Cup games were on so we were entertained. Oh yeah, the power eventually came back. :)
That evening, we needed to get out of the room so we went a had a nice traditional puertor rican dinner at a nearby restaurant. Wyatt hates the high chair....he prefers to roam around...makes him happy. Thankfully, there was only one other couple in the restaurant so don't think we bothered anyone. :)
We were fortunate to have a decent beach/pool day the next day. This was Wyatt's first dip in the ocean...he loved the ocean water! That's my boy! :)
Waking up after a nice nap. :)
Enjoying the kiddie pool at the resort with mommy and a picture from the reception area.
Before we headed back to be with my family, we stopped at the lighthouse in Rincon. Some great views!
La Parguera (more beach!):
Having some piña coladas!
My godmother has the gift. Wyatt was fighting with going to sleep...eventually, he gave in.
Took the boat out with my godparents and enjoyed the sun some more. This is what it's all about. Check out the clear caribbean water (oh, and my sexy hubby! :)). Thank you Julito and Miñita! We enjoyed spending the day with you!
Back at my godparent's house...in front of their beautiful flamboyan tree and the ocean in the background.
El Yunque (national forest!):
Tania graciously offered to stay with Wyatt while we went on the hike to the waterfall.
Here we go!
Yikes! But it was VERY crowded! :( We got to the waterfall and half of Puerto Rico was there. So we were not able to enjoy the water after the hike. Oh well (and it was soooo hot!). Maybe next time we won't go on a Saturday.
Tania survived with Wyatt.... but she was definitely ready for a Medalla beer! And maybe Wyatt as well? :)
Somewhere on the island:
At my grandmother's house in Ponce.
Visiting one of my late dad's friends, Luis Roberto, in Caguas.
Visiting with my cousin, Omar (who moved back to PR from Houston early last year) and his wife, Cory, and son, Sebastian in the San Juan area. The boys were happy playing until they got a hold of the balls. I guess boys really like playing with balls! :) They kept taking them away from each other...even though there were plenty to play with.
The men catching up and me with Wyatt and the Piovanetti family. It was great seeing you guys!
I think Wyatt was ready to go home and was making sure I didn't leave him.... :)
Our last night...we went to one of my aunt's house to celebrate her 50th birthday. Wyatt loves balloons. :) But he was tired regardless, so we couldn't stay very late...our flight was very early the next morning!
Unfortunately, Brent had not been feeling good towards the end of the trip (ear was hurting)...so the flight back was not so much fun for him. It turned out that his tonsils were enlarged (tonsillitis). Thank goodness it wasn't strep or mono. He's slowly recovering.
Our little guy is turning 1 soon so come back for more updates! Sniff, sniff. He's growing up too fast!
