Thanksgiving 2010 in Miami

We braved the airports and spent Thanksgiving weekend in Miami this year. To be honest, I can't even remember the last time I was there for this particular holiday (shame on me), so it was time!

We were so surprised at how easy it was to get to the airport, check-in, and get through security. It was a piece of cake! I had been worried since our flight was at about 5pm on Wednesday evening (peak time!). Of course, we arrived with plenty of time, just in case, and since we had some time, we stopped off at the Chili's to grab a bite before getting on the plane. Below, entertaining Wyatt while we were at Chili's, and Wyatt checking out our airplane from the gate.

Once in Miami, we were ready to party...and EAT!

Some pics with the cousins and abuela and abuelo:

Hanging out with daddy and mami:

Since Brent was going to be missing out on his traditional Thanksgiving dinner, I had asked his mom for their family's recipe for dressing and I made an attempt. I think it came out pretty good for a first try!

Then the rest of the family came...my uncle Jerry and his family as well as my cousin Julio and his family. Here are a few pics of Thanksgiving dinner with our family.

Here, with Wyatt's Godfather and my cousin, Diego:

Carving the turkey and the rest of the dinner on the table:

Random shots of just hanging out and enjoying the company:

And the family picture:

It's been a long day...Wyatt in his PJs and ready for bed. Or is he?

Friday was another nice day so we just hung out outside for the day. The hammock is always a hit. :)

And from time to time, we went inside to catch some of the college football games. Based on their expressions, one of the games isn't going so well.

My mom and Noel offered to watch the kids on Friday night so the 3 couples headed out for some much needed adult time (thanks mom and Noel!). But not before making sure the kids were ready for bed before we left (bedtime story and all).

The couples on a night out in the town of Miami...watch out! Haha.

Meanwhile, back at the house, slumber party! Looks like they had a good time. :)

Again, Saturday was another pretty day, so the boys took the coloring books outside.

The neighbors had a huge display of Christmas decorations in their front yard so we took the kids so they can have a look (it was very impressive!). Alexander just wanted to get out and play. :)

Random picture with mami while Wyatt eats a banana:

We headed over to my Uncle Jerry's house for a BBQ in the afternoon. Below, the men peeling and frying some plátanos (making some tostones!). Yum!

Meche with Luly and Luis.

Brent even helped with the spring rolls (which were delicious!)! Joey just watched and drank beer. :)

The only one missing from this pic is Marco. We missed you Marco!

We tried to get them to look up for the picture, but apparently, there was something more interesting catching their attention. And Wyatt was busy eating a Dorito. At least Luis was looking at the camera. :)

The kids entertained themselves. Wyatt was pretty good with finding his own entertainment with random things (mirrors and fans)...and Alexander with the 3D glasses. How cute!

The guys played music for us... I love that my family has a wide range of musical talent!

...and we even had a little 'parranda' (the Puerto Rican version of Christmas caroling). Wyatt really liked the tambourine and the maracas.

And me and my sisters with my first cousins, Elizabeth, Diego, Emanuel, Julio, and Sebastian.

Great Thanksgiving weekend. Thank you to my wonderful family in South Florida! For a quick trip, we sure did take a lot of pics!!!
